Porter Medical Center is inviting community members to apply for two upcoming openings on its Board of Trustees. The new members will replace outgoing Trustees who will reach the end of their term in September of 2022.

The 19-member Board of Trustees is responsible for representing Porter Medical Center as a member of the UVM Health Network, which consists of six hospitals and a home health and hospice provider, in Vermont and Northern New York. Trustees are also responsible for overseeing Porter Medical Center to ensure it fulfills its mission and serves the needs of our community.

Selection of new Trustees will be governed by a process that begins with an open solicitation of Letters of Interest to join the board. Up to five candidates will be selected to advance from the letters of interest using a blind assessment matrix that hides personally identifying information. Candidates who advance will be interviewed using a standardized set of questions designed to reduce bias and provide each candidate an opportunity to fully introduce themselves. Finalists will be asked to provide the Board with two references prior to confirmation.

The Porter Medical Center Board of Trustees aims to reflect the composition of the communities we serve to effectively participate in the governance of Porter Medical Center and the UVM Health Network. Applicants should be community-minded and interested in the topics of access, quality, and affordability of healthcare locally and in the state of Vermont. Trustees must be willing and able to volunteer their time to attend monthly meetings.

The board is looking for individuals with a range of life experiences, professional attributes and a history of community service that will contribute to a strong and diverse board. No previous board experience or healthcare experience is required.

Letters of Interest are due by July 15, 2022.
