In 1925, Porter Memorial Hospital was founded through the support of William Henry Porter, a trustee of Middlebury College. Now in 2025, after 100 years of providing compassionate medical care to our community, UVM Health – Porter Medical Center is celebrating this incredible milestone in a few ways!

Birthday Wishes for Porter
Maybe you were born at Porter or had an experience here that made a difference in your life?
Does Porter’s presence support your local business’ success or your organization’s mission?
If you’re happy to have Porter in your community, please sign our board to wish us a happy birthday! All your comments, photos and videos will be shared with our staff!
History and Time Capsule
We are creating a timeline that tells Porter’s story of its first 100 years, to be installed in the main hospital and eventually online.
We’re also planning to create a time capsule with the community at our party on June 14. Your submissions of photos, milestones and stories are all welcome!
If you have a Porter story to share, send it to centennial@portermedical.org.
Thank you!
We’d like to thank everyone in the community for their support over the past 100 years – especially our community partners who help take care of Addison County’s residents and visitors.
Stay tuned for more about our generous sponsors who are helping us put this celebration together!
Donate to Porter’s Patient Support Fund
Help us reach our goal of raising 100 donations in the 100 days leading up to our party on June 14. The clock starts on March 6, 2025 and all donations will be directed to our patient support fund.
About the Patient Support Fund
This fund provides patients with the necessary items they need to recover successfully at home after leaving the hospital. This may include medication, a blood pressure cuff, a walker, or even a bus ticket to transport a loved one home to assist with their care.
