 | Porter Management Services
(From our most recent Annual Report to the Community 2005) Porter Management Services is the corporate entity within Porter Medical Center specifically charged with the responsibility of monitoring federal and state legislative activities, as well as developing management strategies to successfully navigate our organization through the ever-changing external health care
environment.
Our 2005 Annual Meeting featured Governor Jim Douglas who described the challenges facing our State, and by extension our entire Vermont health care system, as we come to terms with a looming Medicaid deficit and an aging population.
On the legislative front, Porter continued to closely monitor state and federal regulations that have a direct impact on our operations and reimbursement for the services we provide. With fewer state and federal dollars available for
all programs, organizations like Porter Hospital and Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center must pay particular attention to these important issues.
As we reflect upon our more than 80 years of providing medical care to the people of our region, while also looking to the future and the challenges before us, Porter Management Services will endeavor to identify and address legislative and strategic issues of importance to our organization and play an
active role in the debate regarding the future of health care delivery in our State and community. |
