The Porter Medical Center Auxiliary, led by President Kim Loewer, had another successful year of special event planning (see photo of the annual "Kentucky Derby Day" event) and fundraising in support of the mission of Porter Medical Center.
At their annual meeting in June of 2007, the Porter Medical Center Auxiliary approved $46,000 in contributions to Porter Hospital and Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. These
contributions bring to approximately $50,000 the amount of financial support provided by the Auxiliary to Porter Medical Center during the past 12 months alone.
The largest two gifts ($20,000 each to the hospital and Helen Porter) represent partial payments on larger commitments made last year. At that time, the Auxiliary pledged an additional $100,000 to the "North Project" (in addition to the $250,000 previously committed for that project)and also pledged $60,000 to
Helen Porter for various capital projects. The final $6,000 contribution is to be used for the hospital "Lifeline" program, which represents an annual donation by the Auxiliary in support of this inhome emergency response program. The annual donations allow Porter to make this vital service available to people in our community who cannot afford to pay all or some of the monthly subscription fee.
The majority of the funds raised by the Auxiliary in support of PMC projects and
programs are generated via The Round Robin "Upscale Resale Shop", which moved from Park Street to the Marble Works Complex in 2007. The Auxiliary Board also voted to accept the report of its Nominating Committee, which has successfully recruited four new board members to serve two-year terms beginning in September of 2007. They are Jan Bark, Michelle Shambo, Sue Burdick and Garrett Brown. Officers for next year will be: Kim Loewer, President,
Nancy Rosenberg, Vice President, Jackie English, Treasurer, and Dee Hodges, Secretary.
On behalf of everyone associated with Porter Medical Center, we gratefully acknowledge the important work and contributions provided by our volunteers and auxiliary board members all year long.
