HOSPITAL GOVERNANCE, PROCESS FOR OPENESS AND PUBLIC PARTICIPATION

Porter Hospital is governed by a board of directors comprised of local citizens of our region, who volunteer their time to establish policy, create and monitor a strategic plan, approve budgets and make critical decisions regarding the implementation of Porter's community mission. Through the direct participation of community members on our board, our community has input into both setting and monitoring the strategic direction and decision making of Porter Hospital.

Above and beyond membership on the hospital board, local citizens may become members of the Porter Hospital corporation through an annual donation of $5 to the organization. This entitles an individual to vote at the PMC annual meeting, receive publications and other information from the organization and play an active role in the important community mission of Porter Hospital and Porter Hospital. Individuals may also volunteer or serve on our Auxiliary Board of Directors as another avenue of participation and support. In addition to the Annual Meeting, Porter Hospital hosts other events and meetings throughout the year that allow members of our community to be directly involved in our work.

Anyone interested in learning more about the many opportunities which exists to become involved in our organization as a volunteer may call our volunteer department at 388-4790. Information about other public meetings or upcoming events can be obtained by calling the public relations office at 388-4744 (rhallman@portermedical.org).
